Seeking a Pharmacist to join our team at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital! The city of Grande Prairie is located in northwest Alberta and has something for everyone! We are a growing city with close to 70,000 residents. The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital (GPRH) is bringing care closer to home for the nearly 400,000 Albertans living in the North Zone. With a state-of-the-art cancer care facility, increased bed capacity, and a robust referral center, the GPRH is an important health hub for northwest Alberta. Every day, you can deliver excellence in care alongside an interdisciplinary team of passionate and dedicated professionals. The Pharmacy department is supported by a team of Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants working towards their full scope of practice to allow the pharmacists to focus on clinical activities working to their full scope, engaging with patients, and spend most of their day on the units. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. In addition, a supplemental hourly allowance of $4.94 per hour ($10,000 per annum/2022.75 hours in a year = $4.94 per hour) shall be paid per pay period for all employer-paid hours at the basic rate of pay (exclusive of overtime and call-back hours).

As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) from the Alberta College of Pharmacy is required. New Pharmacy graduates have 1 year effective their original AHS hire date, to achieve APA status.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, good organizational and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated self-directed learning and commitment to continuing education. Good time management skills including the ability to switch priorities and multitask. Self-motivated; able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
