Position Summary
  • Manage logistics operations for Pfizer businesses in Japan, including local manufactured / sourced products, ensure all performance objectives are achieved, act for all logistics related matters, provide strong logistics support to Pfizer Japan’s business growth
  • Understand and familiar with Pfizer’s requirements on Supply Chain Design and Planning, Quality, EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety), Security, BCP (Business Contingency Plan) and Pfizer’s LSP (Logistics Service Provider) Lifecycle Management Process
  • Manage relationship with internal / external stakeholders and partners, build robust collaboration and trust with all parties, and identify operational efficiency improvements
  • Manage the relationship with Logistics Service Provider (3PLs and transportation carriers) of Japan Logistics Network. Ensure logistics providers to achieve performance objective and comply with Pfizer quality, EHS, security and business continuity standards and requirements
  • Ensure financial targets are achieved, closely monitor logistics costs and continuously seek for opportunities for cost efficiency
  • Continuously streamline existing logistics processes and communications with commercial, finance, logistics providers, external suppliers, first paying customers, and Pfizer’s supply site
  • Participate in planning and implementation logistics-related projects in Japan and APAC
  • Continuously identify operational and financial improvement opportunities Build a strong logistics team to achieve performance target
Position Responsibilities
In-market distribution:
  • Establish a robust in-market logistics management system, ensure all processes meet with highest standards between local regulatory requirements and Pfizer’s standard, always seek for opportunities to enhance operational standards
  • In charge of the management of LSPs, establish performance metrics for LSP which aligns with business expectations and industrial standard. Ensure LSP understand and comply with Pfizer quality, operating, reporting and other standards or policies to enable them to meet agreed performance objectives with continuous improvement
  • Establish robust work flows and management system, ensure in-transit shipments are identified and closely monitored, all issues are detected, solved or escalated on time, in order to meet and secure market inventory target
  • Build good relationship and trust with internal stakeholders, e.g. commercial, sales, finance, BU, site supply chain, Quality, EHS, Security, ensure all customer requirements are clarified and well implemented in in-market logistics operation, continuously support Pfizer Japan’s business growth and increase customer satisfaction level
  • Maintain good relationship with external parties, e.g. Local government officer, Local transportation, and LSP, continuously streamline and improve work process
  • Conduct regular ORM(Operational Review Meeting) with the LSPs with standard approach and format
  • Work closely with demand planning and supply planning team, ensure inventory across Logistics Centers are appropriate
  • Work closely with global SMEs, ensure all LC/DCs are in line with all global standards including quality, EHS, security
  • Cultivate Market Excellence and Lean culture in daily operations, implement projects to improve performance level and cost efficiency
  • Participate in and contribute to local distribution strategy, implement DC expansion program whenever there is business needs. Periodically benchmark logistics and Supply operations with other Pfizer markets and regions and with other local companies to identify opportunities
  • In charge of GS1 operations, ensure GS1 data is handled on time and compliant to local regulatory requirement, provide daily operational support to customer inquiries and solve occasional problems
  • Participate in strategic project, such as new product launch, legal entity change, new business acquisition, etc.
Financial:
  • Develop and manage budget on warehousing, freight, and other budget elements in relations to the logistics operations, ensure budget objective is met properly
  • Participate in the annual GSC budget and financial forecasts
  • Maintain awareness of financial and cost implications in order to contribute to departmental efficiency and achieve agreed financial objectives
  • Identify and implement cost improvement projects (CIP), that are related to local GSC operations, while maintaining efficiency and performance levels
People management:
  • Support Market Logistics Group Lead for the development and leadership ofan engaged team of colleagues performing in an appropriate work environment
  • Support Market Logistics Group Lead for accountable colleague performance management, skill and knowledge enhancement, and build a strong logistic team with high capability
Compliance:
  • Ensure consistent compliance with required regulations, policies and procedures, and Pfizer standards This includes all applicable local, US, regional or international laws

Key Performance Indicators for the Position
  • Achieve performance metrics and budget objectives
  • Implement projects and changes in line with regulations
  • Anticipates problems and uses contingency measures to overcome
  • Adopt daily operation with global/region Pfizer standard with change management and innovative ideas.
  • Timely provision of routine data to ensure effective management of logistics providers performance
  • Appropriate escalation and management of service issues to ensure performance issues are addressed
  • All documentation is kept-up to date according to relevant legislation and necessary changes to working practices implemented accordingly
  • Comply with Pfizer standards and policy as well as government regulation
Education And Experience
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in business operations management or technical, Logistics and Supply Chain or a related field. 8 to 10 years or more experience in a Logistics related field preferably in pharmaceuticals industry
  • MBA and/or project management experience is preferred.
  • Motivated individual with strong self-directed capabilities and innovative mind-set as well as strong interpersonal , leadership, and communications skills
  • Candidate must possess good business sense, strong analytical skills and documented project management experience
  • Attention to details and quality
  • Experience of an outsourced logistics environment is required. Knowledge of logistics systems, warehousing, order fulfillment, transportation, customer service, and integrated supply chain management required
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical policies and regulations in logistics management and distribution
Technical Skills Requirements
  • Japanese and English – solid fluent verbal and written communication / understanding, presentation skills are required.
  • Knowledge and business use experience on ERP especially SAP platform is preferred.
  • Strong PC skills and digital literacy are required (e.g. MS Office, Tableau)
Physical Position Requirements
  • Priority Location: Tokyo Head Quarters or Nagoya Plant
  • Oversea and Frequent domestic travel required in Japan.
  • Local area driving skill preferred.
