Pfizer Pharmaceuticals
Pfizer discovers, develops, produces, and markets pharmaceutical drugs for use as medications to be administered (or self-administered) to patients to cure them, vaccinate them, or alleviate a symptom. Pfizer deals in generic and brand medications.
It is Pfizer’s responsibility, as the pharmaceutical company seeking to market a drug, to test it and submit evidence that it is safe and effective. This evidence is sent to the Health Authority in the form of a submission and includes efficacy, safety and the benefit-risk profile of the drug. These dossiers are customised for each region globally to meet Health Authority requirements.
Department Overview
Global Regulatory Operations (GRO) is a global organisation supporting over 42,000 medicinal applications being submitted to Health Authorities throughout 175 countries each year. We play a vital part in ensuring Pfizer’s medicines reach and maintain market position, and are readily available to patients.
Across the Pharmaceutical Industry, Pfizer is considered one of the leaders in Regulatory Operations due to our innovation, design, and implementation of new technical solutions and process designs. We drive process improvement and monitor compliance to provide high-quality, fast submissions and maintain our regulatory data whilst adapting to a changing regulatory landscape. This role focuses heavily on continuous improvements, project management, and change management initiatives which help us retain the “leaders in industry” vision.
What can I achieve and what will I be accountable for whilst completing a placement at Pfizer?
The regulatory environment is complex, multifactorial, and constantly changing, providing undergraduates the opportunity to manage multiple, complex issues, and deliver to time and quality standards. During the year, an Undergraduate will be accountable for:

• Project Management: Oversight and contributing to global projects which define and streamline essential business processes to increase efficiency and reduce time
• Quality Oversight: Analysing metrics and data to drive continuous process improvement and compliance oversight.
• Project Leads: Steering and presenting in meetings to share innovative ideas and strategies which will enhance the implementation of new or revised processes that are motivated by internal and external guidelines.
• Global Project Scope: Executing partnership with colleagues around the globe to assist in ensuring the success of a broad variety of global initiatives, projects and business solutions.
• Process Re-engineering: Accountability for process development, decision making, and change management in the context of Global Regulatory Operations.
• Communication and Change Management: Developing and maintaining instructional documents, procedures and guidelines to direct our state of continuous improvements.

When can I start?
Placements will start on 2nd September 2024 and will run for 12 months.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Type of person we are looking for, in relation to ‘Skills’, ‘Knowledge’ and ‘Motivation’:

• A UK based student completing a year in industry placement as part of their degree course at a UK University.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to adapt to an ever-changing business environment
• Ability to learn and adapt quickly to change
• Ability to generate creative and innovative ideas
• Enthusiasm and pro-active attitude
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills including data analysis and manipulation
• An interest in the Regulatory landscape beneficial
• Expertise/interest in AI, automation technologies and MS Office beneficial
